Yahoo! recently announced a new version of its Yahoo! Mail application that allows users to send free SMS messages from Yahoo! Mail to mobile phones in the US, Canada, India, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Hongkong, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Earlier something similar was being provided by Rediff. This PC to Mobile service is currently in its beta version and claims to be compatible with all major Indian cellphone networks viz. Airtel, Aircel, Hutch, RIM (Reliance India Mobile), MTNL (dolphin) , Idea, Spice, BPL and BSNL as claimed by Yahoo website. But I was unable to send any SMSs to BSNL mobiles here in Uttarakhand. Even Hutch mobiles in Gujarat were unable to receive any SMSs sent by me. Perhaps thats why its called beta version …or rather a free service. But I’ll try again after some time as it is free. It comes with an attached condition that if you do not receive any reply to your three consecutive SMSs to a mobile, you won’t be able to send more messages to that no. and wireless carriers may charge mobile phone text message recipients fees for receiving and sending text messages.
You’ll need to switch to the new Yahoo! Mail in order to send messages to cell-phones. Your contact should also have a valid mobile phone in their profile. You will receive the reply to your messages in the same instant messenger window.
In comparison Rediff Bol is compatible with the following operators:
Aircel - Chennai Airtel - Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Mahrashtra & Goa, Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat BPL - Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa, Tamil Nadu, Kerala BSNL - Uttar Pradesh(W), Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Andaman Nicobar, Kolkata, West Bengal, Assam, North East, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Kerala, Karnataka Hutch - Delhi, Haryana, Mumbai (Orange), Gujarat, rajasthan, Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh(E), Uttar Pradesh(W), West Bengal, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Punjab Idea - Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (W), Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh MTNL - Mumbai Reliance (CDMA) - All India Reliance (GSM) - Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, North East, Assam Spice - Karnataka
So keep in touch for free!

Well Sandeep, you might be …as you are an expert in this field and running a website on SMSs. But Yahoo! launched this feature recently in August end.
I hope you might help me out to solve a query from a reader to find the link to SMS in the Yahoo! Mail itself, without logging in to Messenger. As he is unable to send any SMSs to BSNL mobiles from Yahoo! Messenger and he thinks he can do it through Yahoo Mail.
Can you help him out?
