Autumn Poem

October 30, 2020

The wind whispers little memories from times of old
I laugh at all things I’m being told
All these joys that left have made my life seem so cold

The leaves show me their colors as they dance and sway
Such bright pigments that light up the day
All these shades make my life seem so gray

The sun says one last goodbye before the snow steals her away
She promises us she’ll come back on the first day of May
Her words make me think of all the things I could not say

The squirrel tells me of all the delicious food he will find
When he remembers all the nuts left in his mind
It reminds me of all the memories that leave my conscious undefined

Through the winter, they prepare to push through
I see that everything is changing, and all is new
And I can’t help but notice that I am changing too
