Interested in getting involved with our campus magazine? In Fall 2025, The Century Times will expand and evolve to a mutli-disciplinary magazine with a whole new look, name, and content! Join our team to help us dream up our inaugural publication!
We are hiring for several positions for the 2025-2026 school year, including:
- Editor-in-Chief
- Staff Editors (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and journalism)
- Writers (journalistic and creative)
- Designers (must be proficient with Adobe InDesign)
- Content Creators
- Photographers
- Artists

Job Descriptions
All magazine staff attend weekly meetings and collaborate with student colleagues and faculty advisors to produce two print magazine issues per year showcasing journalistic and creative writing as well as photography and visual art created by Century College students.
Editor-in-Chief
- Assign stories, photos, editing, and other tasks to staff writers and staff editors;
- Make editorial decisions on final content and layout of all issues;
- Organize staff meetings and workshops;
- Manage advertisements; and
- Promote the newspaper at campus activity fairs.
Staff Editors (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and journalism)
- Make editorial decisions on content and layout of in content area (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and journalism);
- Organize staff meetings and workshops in content area (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and journalism); and
- Promote the newspaper at campus activity fairs.
Writers (journalistic and creative)
- Attend staff meetings, contribute story ideas, and collaborate with other staff members to produce issues;
- Contribute to each issue by writing a journalistic or creative piece;
- Edit their own and other staff members’ pieces;
- Take photographs and/or create are to accompany pieces.
Designers (must be proficient with Adobe InDesign)
- Design and lay out pages with written and visual content for both the website and print editions; and
- Create logos, advertisements, and visual layouts as needed.
Content Creators
- Post on the Century app and other social media sites to boost:
- News articles
- Creative pieces
- Contests
- Hiring calls
- Print issues
- Support promotional efforts as needed
Photographer
- Take photographs to accompany journalistic articles; and
- Create creative photographic content to pair with creative writing pieces.
Artist
- Create visuals to pair with creative writing pieces.
Compensation: Students who are eligible to work for Century College earn $15 per hour up to 20 hours per week.
