Interested in getting involved with our *New*campus magazine? In Fall 2025, The Century Times will expand and evolve to a mutli-disciplinary magazine with a whole new look, name, and content! Join our team to help us dream up our inaugural publication! Applications accepted until Sunday, September 28 at 11:59 p.m.
We are hiring for several positions for the 2025-2026 school year, including:
- Editor-in-Chief
- Art Director
- Creative Writing Lead Section Editor
- Scholarly Writing Lead Section Editor
- Web & Promotions Manager
- Writers/Editors (creative and scholarly)
- Photographers
- Designers (must be proficient with Adobe InDesign)
- Artists

Job Descriptions
All magazine staff attend weekly meetings and collaborate with student colleagues and faculty advisors to produce two print magazine issues per year showcasing journalistic and creative writing as well as photography and visual art created by Century College students.
Editor-in-Chief (3 credits/10-12 hours)
- Attends recruitment events (activity fair, class visits, open house
- Reports to student life for budget request
- Meets regularly with team members for support and guidance
- Runs and attends all Tue/Wed staff meetings
- Updates mission/values and issue themes or sections
- Solicits special submissions from community authors, faculty authors, and/or writers in residence (interviews, mixed media, book reviews, art reviews, etc.)
- Coordinates judging for writing contest
- Delegates copy editing and does final approvals
- Writes issue letter and may write filler
- Collaborates with the Art Director for shared visioning
Art Director (2 credits/6-8 hours)
- Attends recruitment events (activity fair, class visits, open house)
- Creates or updates branding, logo, design, and style guide
- Meets regularly with team members for support and guidance
- Attends most Tue/Wed meetings (Art Faculty Advisor available Tuesdays)
- Judges or coordinates judging for art contest
- Magazine layout
- Copy edits
- Collaborates with the Editor-in-Chief for shared visioning
Creative Writing Lead Section Editor (2 credits/6-8 hours)
- Thematic generation
- Solicits creative writing submissions through class visits creative writing club
- Meets regularly with team members for support and guidance
- Attends most Tue/Wed meetings
- Writes at least one creative piece for the section
- Copy edits
- Collaborates with the Editor-in-Chief for shared visioning
Scholarly Writing Lead Section Editor (2 credits/6-8 hours)
- Thematic generation
- Solicits submissions through comp class visits
- Meets regularly with team members for support and guidance
- Attends most Tue/Wed meetings
- Writes at least one scholarly piece for the section
- Copy edits
- Collaborates with the Editor-in-Chief for shared visioning
Web & Promotions Manager (2 credits/6-8 hours)
- Manages social media accounts
- Designs and updates the webpage through snoflo
- Publicizes the magazine across campus and in the community
- Meets regularly with team members for support and guidance
- Attends most Tue/Wed meetings
- Publicizes writing and art contests
- Collaborates with the Art Director for shared visioning
- Plans and coordinates the issue launch party
Writers/EditorsĀ (1 credit/2-4 hours)
- Attends 1+ meetings a week
- Writes at least one piece for the issue
- Copy edits
- Collaborates with the section editors and editor-in-chief for shared visioning
Photographers/Designers (1 credit/2-4 hours)
- Attends 1+ meetings a week
- Designs promotional material
- Contributes at least one photo or visual art piece for the issue
- Supports magazine layout
- Copy edits
- Collaborates with the Art Director and the Web/Promotions manager for shared visioning
Compensation: Students who are eligible to work for Century College earn $15 per hour up to 20 hours per week.
