All current Century College students are invited to submit their writing to The Century Times’s Fall Contests. Winning writers in each of four categories will receive a $100 prize and be published in The Century Times!
Submissions are due by October 31st. Only current Century College students are eligible to enter. You may submit in multiple categories, but you may only submit a single entry per category, and you may only win in a single category.

We are accepting writing in four categories:
- Reviews: We will consider original reviews — positive, negative, or a mix of both — of books, music, movies, theater, television, comedy, fashion, dance, the visual arts, video games, or restaurants. Reviews should be between 300 and 750 words.
- School spirit: In this category, we’re asking you to celebrate your favorite aspect of Century College’s culture, whether it’s a club, activity, team, instructor, staff member, a place on campus, etc. In 300-750 words, tell our readers why you love this part of Century’s culture: What’s so great about it? What has it meant to you, personally? Why would you recommend that other students check it out?
- Opinion: We will consider opinion essays on any social, economic, or political issue, though the timelier the topic, the better. You’re welcome to express your opinion on topics of international, national, or local scope. Opinion pieces should contain a clear argument and should be between 300-750 words.
- Creative writing: We will consider poems up to 200 words and pieces of creative prose up to 500 words (no minimum word count). Remember that you may submit only one piece in each category (either one poem or one piece of prose).
